These 3 Railway Crossings in the City Will Be Eliminated, Bringing Great Relief to Residents!

Date:

Considering the city’s growing population and traffic problems, the railway authorities have approved a plan to construct underpasses at three major railway crossings. Under this plan, the Alawalpur, Jallowal, and Kartarpur railway crossings will be eliminated, and low-height underpasses will be built in their place. More than 100 trains pass through these three crossings daily, which had exacerbated traffic congestion. The railway will now begin work on this project, estimated to cost ₹10 crore.

Railway Underpasses to Provide Relief to City Residents

The railway has completed the technical survey for closing these three crossings, and tenders for the project will be issued soon. Railway officials say that the construction of these underpasses will not only solve the traffic problem but also save costs for the railway.

Kartarpur Railway Crossing is the Busiest

The Kartarpur railway crossing is the busiest in the city, with more than 3 lakh vehicles passing through it daily. The construction of the underpass will reduce traffic congestion at this crossing and make it easier for people to travel to Sultanpur Lodhi and Sri Goindwal Sahib.

Underpasses at Alawalpur, Jallowal, and Kartarpur: 10 Lakh People to Benefit

The construction of underpasses at these three crossings will benefit approximately 10 lakh people, including villagers and city residents who will get direct highway connectivity. In addition, this plan will also eliminate unmanned crossings, contributing to safer travel.

Direct Connectivity from Villages

Specifically, 10 villages near the Beas Pind area, close to the Jallowal railway crossing, will get direct connectivity to the highway, making road travel more convenient for the residents of these villages. The construction of underpasses at all the crossings will reduce traffic congestion on the highway, which will not only reduce accidents but also save travel time. This project initiated by the railway will improve traffic flow in the city and provide relief from the long-standing problems caused by these railway crossings. This step will make traveling in the city much easier.
