The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken a new turn in the firing incident at the residence of businessman Kuldeep Singh Makkar in Sector-5, Chandigarh. The investigation has revealed that the network of foreign gangster Goldy Brar and his associate Goldy Rajpura was behind the attack.
The NIA raided the hideouts of three suspects in Patiala and surrounding areas and recovered important documents and digital evidence. According to the investigation, these three accused were directly connected to Goldy Brar and Goldy Rajpura and were extorting money from businessmen in Punjab through threats. The case began in January 2024 when Makkar’s house was suddenly fired upon. The attackers fired at his car, but Makkar remained unharmed. Shortly after, he received a phone call threatening him and demanding a ransom of three crore rupees.
The NIA has so far arrested eight accused in this case, including Laddi, Sarbu, Pandit, Gujjar, Kamalpreet, Happy, Prem, and Gagandeep. The initial investigation was being conducted by the Chandigarh Police, but considering the seriousness of the case, it was handed over to the NIA two months later.
According to sources, Goldy Brar provided weapons, funds, and hideouts to his gang from abroad and ran a network of extortion and threats through criminals in Punjab. The NIA is now preparing to issue a Red Corner Notice for his arrest. Initially, the case was with the Chandigarh Police, but due to its seriousness, it was transferred to the NIA on the orders of the Ministry of Home Affairs. During the investigation, it became clear that Goldy Brar was the mastermind of the entire conspiracy, planning the attack from abroad.
