While a red alert has been issued across Punjab following the major blast in Delhi, Ferozepur police have arrested two individuals who were in contact with a Pakistan-based smuggler. The arrested individuals have been identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gori and Vikramjit Singh alias Vicky. Police recovered a 9mm Glock pistol, 4 magazines, and 4 live cartridges from their possession. During questioning, Vikramjit Singh confessed that he was in direct contact with a smuggler named Sikandar based in Pakistan, from whom he procured illegal weapons. Acting on his revelations, the police recovered two more Glock pistols. He also admitted that he supplied weapons to a local network on the instructions of his Pakistani handlers. Following the arrest, an old case has also come to light, in which an AK-47 rifle was procured through the same network.
Police have initiated a technical examination of the seized digital devices to identify the entire supply network, including foreign handlers and local collaborators. DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that the Punjab Police is fully committed to dismantling networks involved in cross-border arms smuggling and ensuring the security of the state.
