The Zirakpur Chemist Association held a meeting in the presence of several medical officials, experts, and a large number of medical store owners. The main objective of the meeting was to ensure transparency in the sale of medicines, provide information about regulations, and maintain the quality of healthcare services. Zonal Licensing Authority Jasbir Pratap Singh, District Drug Control Officer Jaijaikar Singh, MDCA President Amardeep Singh, Secretary Vikram Thakur, GCA President Puneet Kumar, Secretary Rajiv Chathli, and Tricity Chairman Amardeep Singh were present.
Officials clearly instructed medical store owners that accurate and complete maintenance of all records related to the sale of medicines is mandatory. They issued strict instructions regarding the sale of Schedule H1 medicines, stating that these medicines can only be sold with a valid and signed prescription from a doctor. Officials warned that strict action will be taken against medical stores that violate the rules. During the meeting, it was also emphasized that patient safety is a top priority and that negligence of any kind will not be tolerated.
Awareness programs will continue in the future.
MDCA and GCA officials jointly decided to organize similar awareness programs in the future to ensure that chemists receive timely updates and ensure a more streamlined and responsible drug sales system.
