The Punjab government has issued new orders regarding the ‘Aashirwad Scheme’, launched for girls. These orders will provide significant relief to parents. The Department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Backward Classes of the Punjab government has taken a significant decision to facilitate beneficiaries applying for the ‘Aashirwad Scheme’, a marriage benefit for girls from poor and needy families. The government has extended the deadline for applying on the ‘Aashirwad Portal’ from 30 days to two months from the wedding date.
This new move will provide additional time for eligible families to apply under the scheme. This will ensure that eligible families are not deprived of the benefits of this scheme. Providing information in this regard, Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu explained that since the Ashirwad Scheme is aimed at economically weaker sections, beneficiaries were busy with wedding rituals and therefore did not have much time to apply for the scheme.
The previous requirement was that the application deadline was 30 days after the wedding date, preventing many eligible families from taking advantage of the scheme. To address this issue, the government has extended the application deadline to two months after the wedding date, allowing more eligible families to benefit from the scheme. He stated that the government is continuously striving to provide better facilities to its citizens and make their lives happier. Extending the application deadline for the Ashirwad scheme is part of this effort.
