It is alleged that the owner of the center was demanded a ransom of ₹50 lakh. The attack was carried out when the ransom was not paid. Although there were no casualties in the shooting, the attackers fled the scene after firing at the building.
According to information, Parminder Singh (son of Harjinder Singh, resident of village Bharowal, district Tarn Taran), owner of the Five Star Immigration Center located near the Focal Point Bus Stand in Tarn Taran, had filed a complaint a few months ago that a person calling him from an overseas number, claiming to be the brother of gangster Jaisal Chambal, had demanded a ransom of ₹50 lakh. He also submitted a written complaint to the SSP in this regard. The case is being investigated by CIA staff and police from the Sri Goindwal Sahib police station. At the time of the incident, some students were present in the nearby Immigration Center and IELTS Center, who narrowly escaped the firing.
Last evening, two masked bike-borne attackers arrived outside the Immigration Center and inquired from neighbors that the owner was inside. They then fired two rounds targeting the center on the second floor and fled. The entire incident was captured on CCTV. Inspector Gurcharan Singh, in-charge of City Police Station, Tarn Taran, stated that the CIA staff is already investigating the matter. A case has now been registered at City Police Station and further action has been initiated.
