Bus driver Harminder Singh, accused of raping and strangling a 13-year-old girl to death at Paras Estate Basti Peerdad Leather Complex Road, Basti Bawa Khel, was taken into police custody by the Basti Bawa Khel police station after he was discharged from the Civil Hospital.
SHO Jai Inder Singh, Station House Officer, stated that the accused, Harminder Singh, alias Happy, will be presented before the court on Tuesday morning and his police remand will be obtained for further questioning regarding the murder of the minor girl. However, the accused, Happy, has confessed to the crime and stated to the police that he strangled the girl to death and that he continued to choke her until she died.
The accused, Harminder Singh, was overpowered by residents of Paras Estate on the day of the incident and brutally beaten to death, leaving him seriously injured. Although the crowd wanted to kill Harminder Singh by setting him on fire on the spot, police from Basti Bawa Khela police station, after considerable effort, rescued him from the crowd and took him to the police station. The accused was a private school bus driver.
