Channi makes shocking allegations against the police
The rape and subsequent murder of an innocent girl in Jalandhar has shocked the city. Serious questions have now been raised about the police’s functioning. Jalandhar MP Charanjit Singh Channi has directly accused the local police team of trying to protect the accused and destroy evidence.
Channi, who visited the deceased girl’s family on Sunday, stated that the Jalandhar West police failed to take timely and appropriate action despite the complaint. He alleged that the ACP, the station inspector, and the outpost in-charge colluded with the accused to suppress the case and even supported the hasty disposal of the body.
“The police misled the mother with lies” – Channi
Channi stated that in the name of investigation, two employees provided false information to the girl’s mother and attempted to protect the accused. He said that the presence of such officers in the police department is a shame for the entire system. He said, “We give the administration three days. If these police officers are not dismissed, Congress will launch a massive street protest.”
Political turmoil intensifies
Channi, accompanied by Jalandhar West constituency in-charge Surendra Kaur, arrived at the innocent girl’s home. Assuring the family of justice, Channi said he would raise the issue with the Punjab government and the central government.
He said that this is not just a case of one girl, but an issue related to the safety of the entire society.
“If the police themselves cannot provide justice to the victim, then whom will the common man trust?”
Family anger, tension in the area
An atmosphere of anger has prevailed in the area since the incident. Family members and local residents are angry with the police action and are demanding strict action against the culprits.
The three-day ultimatum given by Channi has increased both the responsibility and pressure on the Jalandhar police administration. The next 72 hours are going to be very important for this matter.
