A young man, after hiding his girlfriend, strangled her to death and threw her into a canal near Bhakra. Police registered a case, arrested the accused, and initiated further investigation.
SHO of Sadar Police Station, Kaur Singh, stated that in June, Leela Singh reported that her daughter worked at a hospital in Mohali. She suspected Balwinder Singh, son of Balwant Singh, of Fatehgarh Police Station, Sangrur. Police further investigated and questioned the young man, who revealed that he had been friends with a woman named Rani Kaur for 8-10 years.
She was pressuring him to marry her, demanding that he leave his wife and children or kill her. Due to this fear, he lured her to Patiala and took her to Bhisiana village, near Bhakra. There, during the conversation, an argument broke out, after which he strangulated her with her scarf and threw her near Burji No. 276 of Bhakra.
