Equipment used at airports across the country will no longer need to be sent to Europe for hallmarking. To ensure hallmarking, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has begun preparations to establish an airport security equipment laboratory at the old airport in Chandigarh.

According to information, security equipment used at airports is currently manufactured in India, but is sent to Europe for quality testing. Ajay Verma, CEO of Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, Chandigarh, stated that a proposal was prepared and sent to the Ministry of Civil Aviation. The Ministry has now approved the proposal. Following approval, work on the project will commence soon.
