The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has made Aadhaar-based biometric attendance mandatory for officers and employees. Despite earlier instructions to implement Aadhaar-linked salary distribution from November, the system could not be fully operational due to technical and administrative delays.
Commissioner Amit Kumar convened a high-level meeting to evaluate the progress of biometrics. Expressing displeasure over the repeated delays, he issued instructions that December salaries will be released only after the Aadhaar-based biometric attendance system is linked for every employee, without any exemptions.
He warned that appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against the responsible officials for failure to comply with the instructions. He emphasized that no physical verification of attendance will be accepted for salary processing after December.
