BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh met on Friday with the family of Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, who died by suicide, and demanded strict action against those responsible for the circumstances leading to his death.
Expressing his condolences, Chugh stated that law and order in Punjab has completely collapsed and that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government is shielding corruption and the politics of coercion. He alleged that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal, an “organized nexus of gang activity, extortion, and illegal racketeering” is flourishing.
Chugh alleged that the deceased officer was subjected to constant harassment and pressure by those in power. He claimed that a minister allegedly summoned the officer to his residence, assaulted him, forced him to record a video under duress, and threatened to ruin his life. Chugh asserted that it was this very pressure that compelled the officer to take such a drastic step.
Chugh also questioned the functioning of the Punjab Police, pointing out that despite the gravity of the allegations, a case of murder has not yet been registered. He stated that the accused are roaming freely, and the police have utterly failed to take timely action.
