A shocking incident that has shamed humanity has come to light in Guru Gobind Singh Nagar, located on Lohara Road in the city, where a husband—acting with the brutality of a butcher—ruthlessly murdered his own 18-year-old wife. The accused husband fled to Bihar immediately after committing the crime, but the police, following a rigorous effort, have successfully apprehended him. The police produced the accused in court and have secured a two-day remand for further interrogation.
According to reports, the deceased, Suman, and her husband, Aman—both originally natives of Bihar—lived in a rented house on Lohara Road and worked as daily wage laborers. On March 22, neighbors grew suspicious as the couple had not been seen for the past two days, and a strange foul odor was emanating from their room. Acting on information provided by the landlord, local residents broke open the lock on the room; the scene that greeted them inside sent shivers down everyone’s spine. Suman’s lifeless body lay inside the room. They immediately alerted the police. Subsequently, a team from the Daba Police Station arrived at the scene, took custody of the body, and initiated an investigation. Police inquiries revealed that the couple had been married a mere three months prior. Both had come to Ludhiana to work, dreaming of a bright future, but who could have imagined that their journey would end so abruptly and in such a tragic manner?
Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused, Aman, strangled Suman to death before locking the room from the outside and fleeing the scene. ASI Ravindra Kumar, who is investigating the case, stated that immediately after committing the crime, the accused switched off his mobile phone to prevent the police from tracing his location. Utilizing technical assistance and intelligence gathered from confidential sources, the police tracked down the accused and successfully arrested him in Bihar. It was stated that “Aman is currently attempting to mislead the police and is repeatedly changing his statements. So far, he has not fully confessed to his crime.” Interrogation is currently underway.
