District Magistrate Komal Mittal has issued orders for the closure of meat and egg shops, street stalls, and slaughterhouses on Tuesday, on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti. According to religious beliefs, the killing of any living creature is considered inauspicious on this day.
Taking the life of any creature on this day could hurt the religious sentiments of the people. According to the District Magistrate, instructions have been issued to the Senior Superintendent of Police, the Municipal Corporation Commissioner (SAS Nagar), the concerned Executive Officers of the Municipal Councils, all Block Development and Panchayat Officers (BDPOs), and the Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry to ensure strict compliance with these orders.
It is noteworthy that a government holiday has been declared across the state today on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti. Consequently, schools, colleges, government offices, and other institutions throughout the state will remain closed today.
