Speaking live from the Netherlands, Jagjit Singh—a resident of Chandpur—stated that the allegations leveled by Surjit Singh regarding him (Jagjit), along with Major Singh of Chandpur and his cousin Happy, breaking into his house and setting a car on fire, are completely false. He asserted that Surjit Singh is attempting to mislead the police administration by making such accusations.
Jagjit Singh explained that Surinder Singh is the son of his paternal uncle, while Surjit Singh is his paternal uncle’s grandson. He had purchased land in the village through these two individuals, for which he had paid them ₹1 crore. The land itself was worth between ₹70 and ₹80 lakhs, but they failed to provide any accounting for the remaining funds. He has demanded the return of his money from them on numerous occasions. Jagjit Singh possesses all the necessary bank records and evidence proving the payments made to Surjit Singh and Surinder Singh. He alleged that Surjit Singh is leveling these false accusations against the three of them solely with the malicious intent of evading repayment of the money owed.
Jagjit Singh further stated that he has been residing in the Netherlands for the past 25 years. He recounted that during a visit to India, he went to Surjit Singh’s residence to collect his money; however, the father-son duo verbally abused him and forcibly evicted him from their home. Following this incident, he sought the intervention of the village Sarpanch and the Patara police. When the police summoned Surjit Singh to the station, he failed to appear; however, once Jagjit Singh had returned to the Netherlands, Surjit Singh subsequently went to the police station—having realized that Jagjit Singh had already departed for abroad.
Jagjit Singh has appealed to the police administration to register an FIR against both individuals (the father and son) for the fraud committed against him. He also issued a warning that should he suffer any harm to his life or property upon his return to India, these two individuals would be held solely responsible. Similarly, Major Singh of Chandpur also came forward before the media to categorically refute the allegations leveled against him. He questioned the plausibility of the accusation, asking how a person with only one arm could possibly scale a wall to break into someone’s house. Major Singh stated that if the police conduct a thorough investigation into the entire matter, the whole truth will come to light.
