The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is celebrating its 47th Foundation Day today. Speaking at the Punjab BJP headquarters on this occasion, Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar extended his congratulations to the party. Jakhar remarked that the party has not merely completed 46 years in passing, but has also endured a monumental struggle. He stated that the fact that over 250 million people in the country have risen above the poverty line stands as a significant achievement of the BJP’s 46-year journey. Jakhar noted that for other political parties, attaining power is the sole objective, whereas the BJP utilizes this power to serve the nation. He asserted that power is not required merely for leaders to ride around in luxury cars worth millions; rather, the BJP’s goal is to serve the people of the country—specifically, to ensure that even a person wearing humble slippers can eventually afford to travel by air.
Jakhar highlighted that food rations are currently reaching the homes of 800 million people, and funds are being directly deposited into the bank accounts of over 125 million farmers. Today, homes are being constructed for the poor under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana’ (Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme). He observed that while other parties today are engaged in divisive politics in the name of religion, the entire nation essentially comprises four key segments—farmers, youth, women, and the poor—and the BJP was formed specifically to serve these groups. Sunil Jakhar stated that the people of Punjab are resolute in their determination to bring the BJP to power, as they place their trust in the assurances given by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Amit Shah had pledged to eradicate the drug menace from its very roots within two years. Sunil Jakhar emphasized that Punjab is in dire need of the BJP today, and in such a scenario, the party’s responsibilities have become even greater. He asserted that a strong government is indispensable for maintaining communal harmony within Punjab. He issued a stern warning to mischievous elements attempting to sow anarchy in the state, declaring that such behavior would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He concluded by stating that everyone must unite and fight together to save Punjab.
