The metropolis witnessed a scene of havoc caused by a speeding vehicle. On the highway, near Shivpuri Chowk—close to Pringle Ground—a driver operating a vehicle at high speed and with gross negligence struck two young men who were walking along the road, leaving both of them critically injured. Passersby immediately rushed the injured victims to a hospital for medical treatment.
Following the collision, the driver of the Tata 407 abandoned the vehicle at the scene and fled the spot. The police have identified the injured victims as Mandeep Singh (29) and his friend, Sandeep Singh. Tragically, Mandeep Singh succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Taking immediate action, the police from the Daresi Police Station registered a case based on the statement provided by Mandeep’s brother, Harnek Singh, a resident of Bajrawar village in Hoshiarpur.
In his statement to the police, Harnek Singh recounted that his brother, Mandeep Singh, along with his friend Sandeep Singh, was walking home after finishing work at the vegetable market. As they reached the highway near Pringle Ground, the driver of a Tata 407—approaching rapidly from behind—crashed into them. Consequently, Mandeep Singh sustained severe injuries and passed away while undergoing treatment. Sandeep Kumar remains hospitalized and is currently undergoing treatment.
