A massive fire incident has been reported at a factory in Ludhiana. On Tuesday morning, a fierce blaze suddenly broke out at a machinery factory located near Oswal Agro in the city’s Sherpur area. According to preliminary reports, a short circuit is suspected to be the cause of the fire. The flames spread so rapidly that, within just a few minutes, an atmosphere of chaos and panic gripped the entire locality.
Local residents immediately alerted the fire brigade, following which approximately 10 to 15 fire tenders rushed to the scene. A continuous supply of water was utilized to combat the blaze, and the firefighting teams had to work tirelessly to bring it under control. It is reported that the factory housed stocks of yarn, textiles, and other combustible materials, which caused the fire to intensify and rage out of control. According to the factory owner, work related to a transformer was underway at the time; suddenly, when power was restored, an explosion occurred, leading to a short circuit in the wiring. Subsequently, the fire spread with alarming speed.
Currently, the fire brigade has successfully brought the blaze under control. A matter of relief is that there have been no reports of any casualties in this incident. However, it is feared that the factory has sustained extensive damage, the extent of which is currently being assessed.
