In a road accident that occurred in the village of Dholewal in Khamanon, national-level volleyball player Jasvir Singh ‘Jassa’ of Mansurpur lost his life, while his companion sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital.
According to reports, in a statement given to the Kheri Naudh Singh police, the deceased’s uncle, Surmukh Singh, stated that Jasvir Singh ‘Jassa’—son of Baljit Singh and a resident of Mansurpur village—was returning to his home village from a relative’s place in Jallowal (near Kheri Naudh Singh) on the evening of April 6, around 8:30 PM, along with his friend, Navneet Singh. Both youths were riding a motorcycle.
As they approached the vicinity of Dholewal village, their motorcycle collided head-on with a speeding tractor approaching from the opposite direction. The impact of the collision was so severe that both youths sustained critical injuries. With the assistance of local residents, they were immediately rushed to a hospital; however, Jasvir Singh succumbed to his injuries on the way. Meanwhile, Navneet Singh remains in critical condition and has been admitted to a private hospital for treatment. According to the doctors, his condition remains delicate.
In connection with this incident, SHO Major Singh of the Kheri Naudh Singh police station stated that, based on the statement provided by the deceased’s uncle, Surmukh Singh, the police have registered a case against the unidentified tractor driver. The police have launched a search for the accused driver, who is expected to be arrested shortly. This tragic accident has claimed the life of a promising athlete, plunging his family and the entire village into deep mourning. Local residents have urged the administration to take strict action against the accused and to further strengthen road safety measures to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
