Gangs exploiting superstition to commit fraud are active within the city. One such sensational case has come to light, wherein a cunning conman, posing as a ‘Tantric’ (occult practitioner), ensnared an individual in his trap and, through intimidation and threats, swindled him out of his hard-earned savings. Acting on a complaint filed by the victim, Sukhjit Singh, the police at Model Town Police Station have registered a case against the accused, Sumit Rajput, and have initiated an investigation.
**’Tantric’ Offers False Promise to Resolve Troubles**
In his statement to the police, the complainant, Sukhjit Singh, recounted how the accused—claiming to be a Tantric—skillfully entangled him in a web of words. The accused instilled various fears in the victim regarding his future and family, and, under the pretext of ridding him of these troubles, extorted a total of ₹73,000 from him. According to the victim, he was subjected to such intense psychological intimidation that he handed over his entire life savings to the accused.
**Entire Family Living in Terror**
When the victim realized that he had been defrauded and demanded the return of his ₹73,000 from the accused, the alleged Tantric revealed his true colors. Instead of returning the money, the accused is now openly issuing death threats to the victim. The victim stated that the accused is warning him of dire consequences, leaving his entire family living in a state of terror.
