Punjab’s political landscape is once again witnessing intriguing developments. Political speculation has intensified regarding the family of gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria. It is widely believed that a member of the Bhagwanpuria family may enter the electoral fray in the 2027 Assembly elections.
Notably, Bhagwanpuria’s maternal aunt, Rajwinder Kaur, was recently elected as the Chairperson of the Dera Baba Nanak Block Committee. Since her assumption of this office, discussions have begun circulating in political circles suggesting that the family is now moving towards consolidating its foothold in active politics.
Speaking to the media after taking charge, Rajwinder Kaur hinted that a member of her family might contest the Assembly elections in the future. She stated, “If it is the will of the *Akal Purakh* (the Almighty), then a member of the family will certainly contest the election. The very Divine Power that has guided us this far will also determine the path ahead.”
Following this statement, political activity in the region has intensified. At the local level, people view this as a sign of significant political shifts to come. Significantly, the Dera Baba Nanak region has historically been politically vibrant; consequently, such a statement has sparked a fresh debate. Should a member of the Bhagwanpuria family enter the electoral arena, the contest promises to be quite intriguing. However, no official announcement regarding the name of a potential candidate has been made by the family thus far.
