The Machhiwara police have registered a case against a man—identified as a maternal uncle by relation—on charges of committing obscene acts against his minor niece. The accused has been identified as Satar Mohammad. The mother of the minor victim recorded a statement with the police, stating that she works as a domestic helper. On the day of Eid, Satar Mohammad’s daughter took the 14-year-old minor girl home with her. A short while later, when the minor girl went into Satar Mohammad’s room, she found him sitting there alone; she refers to him as her maternal uncle. Satar Mohammad grabbed the minor girl by the arm and subjected her to obscene acts, causing her to return home in tears and terrified.
According to the complainant, the entire matter was brought to the attention of local community elders, who allegedly exerted pressure to resolve the issue internally. In connection with this incident, a female police inspector recorded the statement of the victim’s mother, and a case has been registered against Satar Mohammad under the POCSO Act and other relevant sections of the law. The police have arrested the accused, Satar Mohammad, for molesting the girl.
