Claiming split in AAP: Congress MP Manish Tewari warns, ‘Political turmoil in Punjab is a threat to the security of the country’

Date:

Congress MP Manish Tewari has warned that political instability in Punjab could pose a serious threat to the country’s security. He said Punjab is a border state and any kind of instability here can be taken advantage of by our neighbouring countries. Tewari has appealed to the central government to formulate a border policy for border states.

Amid concerns raised by the opposition in Punjab that the Aam Aadmi Party government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann could fall anytime, Congress MP Manish Tewari on Tuesday said any political instability in Punjab would have very serious national consequences.

Delhi has never understood Punjab: Manish Tewari

While talking to news agency ANI, Manish Tewari said that Delhi has never understood Punjab and unfortunately, Delhi will never understand Punjab as the state has a different ethos, a different culture, a different coordination and it is in a different rhythm.

He also pointed out that being a border state, Punjab needs to be handled very carefully and the Center needs to formulate a ‘border policy’ for border states.

Appealed to the Center to formulate a ‘border policy’

The Congress MP said that any political instability in Punjab will have very serious national consequences. Punjab is a border state. Our western neighbor is always hyperactive in trying to destroy the peace of Punjab. Therefore, there are some border states, which need to be handled very carefully. The situation in the Northeast, Manipur is far from being stable and so the Government of India should really focus on forming a ‘border policy’ for the border states.

BJP claims to topple AAP government in Punjab

Let us tell you that the BJP has won the Delhi Assembly elections by securing 48 out of 70 assembly seats. AAP has suffered a huge setback, it got only 22 seats. After the defeat of Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi, now the AAP government is being claimed to fall in Punjab as well.

Not just the Congress, BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh on Monday said the countdown to the fall of the AAP government in Punjab has begun and the party’s state unit is a ‘house of cards’ which will soon collapse as the much-hyped Delhi model, which the Bhagwant Mann government wanted to implement in Punjab, has been outright rejected by Delhi.

More than 30 AAP MLAs in touch with Congress: Bajwa

Earlier on Monday, BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal had criticised Arvind Kejriwal, saying the people of Delhi have punished him for the state of the state and warned that Punjab will also face a similar situation.

It is worth noting that earlier on Sunday, Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa had claimed that more than 30 AAP MLAs in Punjab are in touch with the Congress and are ready to switch sides.
