Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will arrive in Chandigarh today. He will inaugurate a two-day orientation program organized for the newly elected members of the 15th Legislative Assembly at the Haryana State Legislative Assembly premises here. In this program, Union Ministers, Chairmen of Parliamentary Committees, Members of Parliament and subject experts will give information to the MLAs of Haryana about how to become an effective MLA.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini, Speaker of Haryana Legislative Assembly Harvinder Kalyan, former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda, Ministers and Legislative Assembly members will be present.
These topics will be discussed
Topics like how to become an effective MLA, what members should do and what they should not do, legislative and financial work in the Indian Parliament and Haryana Legislative Assembly will be discussed in this program. The MLAs will also be informed about the committee system, reflection of parliamentary democracy, ensuring accountability of the executive through questions and other means in the legislatures.
Apart from this, the role of the minister in legislative processes, parliamentary privileges, and National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) will also be discussed.
Haryana’s first orientation programme
Haryana Speaker Harvinder Kalyan informed that this orientation programme for the members of the 15th Legislative Assembly of Haryana is being organised by the Parliamentary Democracy Research and Training Institute (PRIDE) of the Lok Sabha Secretariat in collaboration with the Haryana Legislative Assembly Secretariat.
Since the first orientation programme organised for the newly elected members of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 1981, PRIDE has organised 70 orientation courses so far in which more than 5032 members of state legislative assemblies have participated.
