The police have made a complete plan to make Punjab drug free by May 31. Instructions have been given to SSPs and CPs of all districts. They have been asked to take action in this direction within the stipulated time. The entire campaign will be reviewed after the stipulated date.
During this time, the officers whose work will be good will be honored. At the same time, action will be taken against those whose work will not be according to the standards. This claim has been made by Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav.
He said that work is going on to install anti-drone technology on the Indo-Pak border. Its trial has been done and our officers are in touch with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). It will be completed by September-October.
At the same time, a court will be set up for 30 NDPS cases. The state government will spend Rs 22.8 crore on this. At the same time, 31 hawala operators involved in drug smuggling have been arrested so far.
Now the police is working on three methods:
1. The hawala network involved in this work is being eliminated. So far 31 hawala operators have been arrested and more than eight crore rupees have been seized. Pakistani smugglers and Indian hawala operators have also been arrested.
2. Attachment of property under 268A: Property built from the money earned from drugs is being attached.
3. Illegal violation of government land or building: Government land or building is being violated by drug smugglers. Action is being taken against them and they will be demolished here.
144 smugglers sentenced to more than ten years
The DGP said that the result of our police in getting the accused punished in drug cases has been very good. The conviction rate has reached 90%. So far 836 cases of drug smuggling have been decided, out of which 744 cases have been convicted. 144 people have been sentenced to more than 10 years. Our focus is on working on the second of line.
The DGP said that our focus is not on the figures, but on completely eliminating drug addiction. We are fully engaged in this. The CM himself is monitoring the helpline that has been started for de-addiction. Because when the public joins the campaign, its result is excellent.
Bulldozers run on the houses of 67 more drug smugglers
The Punjab government is very strict against drug smugglers. Bulldozers are being run on the luxurious houses built illegally by the smugglers. So far more than 67 houses have been demolished. Now 4659 FIRs have been registered in the campaign.
7414 drug smugglers have been arrested. Under the guidelines of the CM, today DGP Sahib has given strict guidelines to SSPs and CPs. Orders have been given to arrest the drug smugglers by May 31. If drug smuggling takes place in Punjab after May 31, then the concerned SSP and CP will be responsible.
Under the campaign ‘Yuddh Nashe Viruddh’, work is being done on 360 degrees. CM Bhagwant Mann has clearly said that those who bring darkness in people’s homes will not be allowed to light lamps at their homes. He said that drug addicts will be treated. Along with that, they will be given a new start in life.
