Leave of all medical officers in Chandigarh cancelled: Orders to be ready for 24×7 emergency duty; Separate ward-gate ready in PGI

Date:

After India’s Operation Sindoor air strike in Pakistan, the leaves of all medical officers in Chandigarh have been cancelled. Instructions have been issued to them to be ready for 24×7 emergency duty. The Health Director of National Health Mission, Chandigarh (UT) has issued the order.

It is written in this order that all leaves of all medical officers and staff posted in Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs) and Urban Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (UAAMs) are cancelled with immediate effect. They have to be ready for duty anytime 24 hours. If called for duty at any time and place, report immediately. It is necessary to answer the phone call immediately, otherwise strict disciplinary action will be taken.

Disaster ward, separate entry gate prepared

PGI Medical Superintendent Prof. Vipin Kaushal said that a disaster ward and a separate entry gate have been prepared on the Nehru ground floor. However, at present it is also being used in the care of normal patients. Like the Covid period, nodal officers are yet to be appointed for disaster management, but the arrangements are better than before.

Training will be given to handle patients

Director Health Service Dr. Suman Singh said that the nursing superintendent has been instructed to train the staff to handle patients and relatives in an emergency. In the wards where there are no curtains, privacy is being ensured by putting black chart paper. During the mock drill, patients and relatives were prevented from using mobiles.

Library and chemist shop on alert

The library and chemist shop in PGI are on alert. The staff of both these places have also been alerted. ICU and HDU were inspected by Dr. Sanjeev Palta. The trauma block has been prepared as a make shift hospital. The pharmacy department has been instructed to keep all essential medicines in adequate stock. In case of emergency, there will be a ban on entry and exit of vehicles in the hospital premises.
