Panchkula District Police has arrested the accused of opium smuggling in a major action under the Nasha Mukti Abhiyan. The team of Crime Branch Sector-26 has recovered 2 kg 613 grams of opium from the accused. The arrested accused is being interrogated by the police team.
Caught near Polytechnic College
According to the information, on May 11, on the basis of secret information, the team of Sub-Inspector Mandeep Singh under the leadership of ACP Crime Arvind Kamboj caught the accused near Polytechnic College located in Sector-26. The arrested accused has been identified as 29-year-old Maniram of Diyo Riya village in Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh. Police have registered a case against the accused under Section 18 of the NDPS Act.
Investigation of mobile-electronic devices
Investigation has revealed that Maniram used to bring opium from Uttar Pradesh and sell it in Tricity. Police has taken the accused on 4-day remand. Police is investigating the mobile and electronic devices of the accused. This will help in finding out his network and main suppliers. Police has ordered to keep special vigil on drug related hot spots.
