Dead Body Found in Blue Drum in Ludhiana: Ropes Tied Around Neck and Legs, Police Probes 42 Drum Manufacturing Units

Date:

Ludhiana, Punjab – June 23, 2025:
A highly disturbing incident has emerged from Sherpur area of Ludhiana, where a dead body was found stuffed inside a blue plastic drum. The body was wrapped in a plastic sack with ropes tied around the neck and legs, suggesting a premeditated murder.

Residents alerted the police after detecting a strong foul smell in the vicinity. Officers from Police Station Division No. 6, led by SHO Kulwant Kaur, arrived at the spot and retrieved the body.

Initial Police Investigation:

  • The body appears to belong to a migrant worker, according to facial features.

  • The condition of the corpse indicates decomposition, though no visible injuries have been found so far.

  • The body has been sent to the Civil Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

  • A fresh and unused drum was used, raising suspicions that the container was recently purchased specifically for the crime.

Police Lists 42 Drum Companies for Investigation:

  • Ludhiana has approximately 42 drum manufacturing companies.

  • The type and origin of the drum recovered at the crime scene will be cross-verified with local suppliers and manufacturers.

  • Police are interrogating owners and employees of these companies to trace the purchaser.

Surveillance and Search Operation:

  • Police are combing through CCTV footage within a 5-kilometre radius, including footage from Safe City cameras, bus stands, railway stations, and the Ladowal Toll Plaza.

  • Multiple suspicious vehicle numbers are also under verification.

Local Residents and Migrant Community Under Scanner:

SHO Kulwant Kaur stated:

“The area has a significant migrant population. We are questioning local residents and cross-checking identities to match with missing person reports. The face of the deceased appears non-local.”

Awaiting Post-Mortem Clarity:

  • The cause and timeline of death will be determined after the forensic post-mortem report is received.

Similar Incident Last Year:

Notably, just 500 meters away from the current crime scene, a similar case was reported a year ago. A man’s amputated legs were found in a plastic bag near the railway tracks, and his torso was later discovered in a suitcase. That case still remains unsolved.
