Alert in Punjab Due to the inflow of water from the upper regions of Himachal Pradesh, the water level of Bhakra Dam is continuously increasing. The water level of Bhakra Dam was recorded at 1631.16 feet till 6 am on Monday, which is 20 feet more than last year.
57482 cusecs of water was recorded in Gobind Sagar Lake of Bhakra Dam and 17047 cusecs of water was released from Bhakra Dam to Nangal Dam Lake through turbines. The water level capacity of Bhakra Dam is up to 1680 feet and there is still more capacity of about 49 feet towards water level. It is raining in the upper regions of Himachal due to which the inflow of water is continuously increasing. Today, apart from releasing 12350 cusecs of water in Nangal Hydel Canal and 10150 cusecs of water in Sri Anandpur Sahib Hydel Canal, 650 cusecs of water was released from Nangal Dam into Sutlej River. Officials said that till now Gobind Sagar Lake has the capacity to fill with water and the situation is being continuously monitored.
