Nowadays, efforts to control stray dogs have intensified. It is being told that new orders have been issued in Chandigarh regarding stray dogs. It is being told that food will not be given to dogs anywhere in public places. If anyone does this, strict action will be taken against them. Not only this, the administration will now determine certain places to feed dogs, where people can feed stray dogs. The Municipal Corporation will decide this place in consultation with Residents Welfare Association and other organizations.
Not only this, the Supreme Court has issued a new order in this matter, in which orders have been given to not release only dangerous dogs along with a ban on feeding stray dogs in public places. The rest of the dogs will be released after sterilization. The Chandigarh administration will also implement these orders in view of these. At the same time, in view of the increasing number of dogs, a chip will be put in the ear of every dog for identification as soon as sterilization is done. Complete information will be obtained by scanning it. The owner has to register his pet dog with the municipal corporation for Rs 500 per dog.
Efforts to curb stray dogs have intensified following a recent Supreme Court order that says stray dogs caught will be sterilised and given anti-rabies vaccination, then released back to their original location; aggressive dogs, however, will be kept separate. Additionally, all municipal corporations have been ordered to set up designated feeding points for dogs in each ward and ban feeding stray dogs in public places, with violators facing legal action.
