The meeting of the Sukhu cabinet began at the Himachal Pradesh Secretariat at 11:00 AM on Saturday. Around 150 agenda items are expected to be discussed in this meeting, which is taking place after a long hiatus. Decisions are anticipated on several significant proposals, including filling approximately 4,000 posts in the Education Department, recruiting multi-task workers for the Jal Shakti Department, and approving a new nutrition policy.
Three ministers had not arrived at the Secretariat by the time the meeting commenced. Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh arrived after the meeting had already started. Meanwhile, Social Justice & Empowerment and Health Minister Colonel Dhani Ram Shandil and Education Minister Rohit Thakur did not attend the meeting.
CM arrived from Chandigarh in the morning
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu arrived in Shimla from Chandigarh around 8:00 AM on Saturday. He also met with people at the Secretariat. Despite it being a Saturday (a holiday), the Secretariat saw activity among officials and staff due to the cabinet meeting. There was also a flurry of activity at the departmental level regarding the proposals to be included in the meeting.
20 agenda items arrived in the morning
According to sources, around 150 agenda items were slated for the meeting. It has been reported that approximately 20 of these proposals were submitted to the Cabinet only this morning. However, the discussion and final decisions on all proposals will depend on the proceedings of the cabinet meeting.
Focus on recruitment and nutrition policy
Special attention will be paid to the proposal to fill around 4,000 teacher posts in the Education Department during the cabinet meeting. Additionally, the agenda reportedly includes items such as filling multi-task worker positions in the Jal Shakti Department and approving a new nutrition policy. Decisions on these proposals could lead to significant progress regarding employment and matters related to departmental schemes.
Meeting postponed twice
The cabinet meeting had previously been postponed twice. Against this backdrop, the eyes of employees, unemployed youth, and various departments are fixed on the decisions regarding pending proposals at this meeting.
