In view of the danger of flood in the border area, the Fazilka district administration has issued an alert to the people. The administration has informed that 2 lakh 45 thousand cusecs of water has been released from Harike Headworks. Apart from this, 50 thousand cusecs of water has been released towards Hussainiwala, while 13 thousand cusecs of water is being sent for agriculture through Ferozepur and Rajasthan feeder. Due to this, people have been appealed to send women, elderly and children out of the flood affected villages.
All 31 gates have been opened for the drainage of water in Harike Patan. Announcements are being made in the Gurudwaras in this regard. Giving information, Fazilka’s ADC (Development) Sushil Chandra said that on Monday 1 lakh 70 thousand cusecs of water has been released from Harike Headworks. After this, there is a possibility of more water being released, due to which the danger of flood in the border villages has increased further.
In view of this, the administration has appealed to the people of flood-affected villages through Granthi Singhs from the Gurudwaras to send women, elderly and children to safe places.
