The team of the state GST department raided the workplace of S.S. Chains and Jewelers located in the famous Sarafa Bazaar of the city. It should be told that the departmental officers have conducted an investigation in relation to tax evasion. Where the officers suspect that the said person is not paying tax according to the sales in the correct manner. During the action, the team of Ludhiana District-4, State Tax Officer Ashwani Goyal, Deepika Garg and police personnel were present on the spot. During this, the officers have seized a large amount of sales-purchase books, stock taking, account books as well as a CPU. At the same time, the departmental officers say that the seized documents will be thoroughly investigated and it will be found out to what extent the said person is involved in tax evasion.
During the action, the shopkeepers nearby kept their shops closed
S.S. After the raid on Chains and Jewelers, many shopkeepers of the entire Sarafa Bazar closed their shops. Some shopkeepers said that this step was taken due to fear of the officials, while many shopkeepers who were troubled by the continuous action of the department have taken this decision out of anger. It is worth mentioning that earlier also the State GST Department had taken action against Rana Bangles of Sarafa Bazar. Whenever the departmental officials raid the congested areas of Ludhiana like Sarafa Bazar, Dal Bazar, Kesarganj Mandi and Chowra Bazar for action, the shopkeepers and the heads of the association gather there and start pressuring the officials to stop or stop the action. This time also, during the raid, the head of Sarafa Bazar was present on the spot and was seen talking to the officials. At the same time, many other shopkeepers and association members are present, but the media is prevented from coming inside, due to which the publication of the truth is hindered. In this situation, the departmental officials also seem to be supporting the shopkeepers.
As soon as the festive season arrived, departmental officials started raids
A businessman, on the condition of anonymity, said that the department has started preparations for the festive season and now raids and inspections will continue till Diwali. He said that raids and inspections are only for the benefit of the officials, not for the government treasury. And said that if information is taken through RTI (Right to Information) about all the raids and actions happening around the festive season, then it will be known that the government’s recovery from these efforts is very low or negligible. It is said that the officials are busy filling their pockets and the real goal is not to collect government revenue
