There was chaos in Punjab University (PU) on Monday when the lift of a girls’ hostel of the university suddenly broke down and two students got trapped inside it. Both the students remained trapped in the lift for about half an hour and kept screaming for help due to panic and suffocation. According to the information, the incident took place in Hostel Number-3 (Sarojini Hall). As soon as the students were using the lift, the lift suddenly stopped in the middle and darkness prevailed inside. The students got scared due to this sudden incident and started shouting loudly for help.
The victim students called the hostel authorities and the concerned staff from their mobile, but there was no response in the initial time. Due to this, their panic increased further. According to the students, a situation like lack of oxygen and suffocation started developing inside the lift. After being troubled for about half an hour, finally other students and staff came to know about this incident. Thereafter, the team that reached the spot opened the lift with great difficulty and took out the trapped students. After coming out, the students were very scared and nervous.
