The terrible flood in the Ravi river has assumed a more horrific form than before and has started engulfing many new places. After wreaking havoc in the villages near the border town Gaggomahal to the historical town Ramdas i.e. Dhussi Dam, it has now turned towards the western part of the town Chamiari located on the Ajnala-Fatehgarh Churian main road.
The nearby villages Harar Kalan and Harar Khurd have been badly submerged while the fields on the western side of Chamiari town have started filling with water very fast, due to which an atmosphere of panic is being seen among the people living in the camps on this side and people are migrating to higher places with their families and animals.
It is noteworthy that the newly built link road which connects the big highway in front of village Gujjarpur passing through village Harad Kalan and Kharad Khurd in front of Fakel Point of town Chamiari and which has been built very high and strongly by the Defence, has caused about 7-7 feet of water to fill in thousands of acres of crops along with dozens of camps of Baba Fort on both sides of the road going from Chamiari to Gaggomahal, while due to this dam, villages Harad Kalan and Harad Khurd are surrounded by water.
On the other hand, the army is also keeping an eye on the situation in this area by giving its presence. Apart from this, fodder has been distributed to the flood affected cattle rearers by the Animal Husbandry Department on the instructions of the government in the animal shelter built by the administration in Dana Mandi Chamiari and langar has also been arranged by the local people.
