The Municipal Corporation has taken a major decision to keep the city clean. Now, anyone caught throwing garbage on the streets, parks, or any public place will be fined ₹1,000 for the first time, and double the fine, i.e., ₹2,000 for the second time. The Municipal Corporation has formulated a new policy to improve sanitation. Under this policy, fines are imposed not only on ordinary citizens but also on shopkeepers, hotel owners, and industrial units. Different fines have been set for different cases.
Furthermore, if any individual or organization fails to comply with the Corporation’s waste processing rules, the fine will be collected along with their property tax. Corporation officials say that there will be no laxity in maintaining cleanliness in the city. If the number of Corporation employees is insufficient, cleaning work will be outsourced to agencies. The Municipal Commissioner stated that efforts are underway to make the city filth-free.
