The government says this will provide better protection to workers and make it easier for companies to operate.
Key changes:
Appointment letter and timely pay
Every employee will receive an appointment letter upon joining, and the minimum wage will be the same across the country. Companies will be required to pay wages on time.
Free annual health checkup for employees aged 40+
People over 40 will receive a free medical checkup every year. Workers in hazardous sectors and contract workers will also receive special protection. Gratuity after only 1 year
Previously, 5 years of service was required; now, gratuity will be available after only 1 year.
Night shifts and equal pay for women
Women can work at night with safety. They will have the right to equal pay and a safe environment. Transgender employees also have equal rights.
Recognition of Gig and Platform Workers
For the first time, app-based and freelance workers have received legal recognition. They will receive social security benefits such as insurance and pensions.
Double Overtime Pay
Double pay will be mandatory for overtime work.
Contract Workers will also receive the same rights as permanent employees.

Less Paperwork for Companies
Instead of multiple licenses, there will now be a single license and a single return to be filed.
Easy Dispute Resolution
Supervisory officers will now act as guides. Two-member tribunals will be established to resolve industrial disputes, where workers can directly file their complaints.
