A major uproar erupted in Ludhiana today after a Jalandhar travel agent was accused of defrauding people of lakhs of rupees in the name of visa arrangements. Several victim families from Nakodar and other areas surrounded the travel agent during a seminar being held at a Ludhiana hotel and created a ruckus.
According to sources, this travel agent had been extorting money from people for the past several months by promising to send them abroad, but neither visas were issued nor any money was returned. The victims allege that the agent has swindled approximately 30-35 lakh rupees from various individuals. Many said the agent had promised them visas to Canada, the UK, and Europe, for which he had taken large sums of money in advance. A complaint has also been filed against the travel agent in Jalandhar.
Today, when the travel company’s seminar was being held in Ludhiana, a large number of victim families arrived and started creating a ruckus. The seminar hall erupted in chaos. People accused the agent of fraud and demanded strict action against him. There has been no official response from the travel agent yet.
