Ajay Arora, a well-known sweetmeat trader from Jalandhar district, Punjab, has been arrested by Haryana Police. He was arrested on suspicion of hawala transactions and spying for Pakistan.
According to reports, Punjab Police conducted a raid against Ajay Arora after Advocate Rizwan identified him. Both were produced before the area magistrate late last night and taken on 8-day police remand. Police stated that Ajay Arora, a resident of Malasian, Jalandhar, had connections with individuals in Pakistan. He used to take money from there and hide it with his relatives and friends. Approximately ₹3.5 million (approximately ₹3.5 million) is expected to be recovered from him. A large sum of money, some suspicious documents and electronic gadgets were also recovered from Rizwan.
Security agencies say that Ajay Arora’s role was quite dangerous. Investigations so far have revealed that he sent money and maintained accounts at the behest of individuals in Pakistan. Central intelligence and security agencies are now investigating the matter.
