Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema has announced that the state government will provide special allowances to doctors and teachers posted in border areas. This will improve healthcare facilities in border areas and also help address the shortage of teachers in government schools.
Speaking to reporters, he said that doctors and teachers are recruited for border areas, but later get themselves transferred to other areas.
He said that health and education have been a key agenda of the AAP government since its inception, and the government has taken steps from time to time to bring about revolutionary reforms in these areas. He further stated that the government has directed the creation of a special panel of teachers and doctors, who will be given special incentives for border areas.
