Significant news has emerged regarding Kanchanpreet Kaur, daughter of Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa, the Akali Dal candidate in the Tarn Taran by-election. Kanchanpreet Kaur, daughter of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) candidate Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa, has been released from Punjab Police custody. It is reported that her release process was completed at 4:25 am on Sunday following a late-night court order.
According to reports, a lengthy debate between the police and the defense continued until 1:30 am on Saturday night in the Tarn Taran court. After hearing arguments from both sides, the court delivered its verdict early in the morning. Previously, Kanchanpreet was released from police custody and placed in magistrate custody on the High Court’s orders.
Following her release, the defense lawyer called it a victory for the Constitution. The lawyer stated that the court recognized that Kanchanpreet Kaur’s arrest was beyond the legal scope and violated her fundamental rights. She stated that several cases were filed against her during the election period, but she had not previously been an accused in any of them and had been granted bail in all of them.
It is noteworthy that Kanchanpreet Kaur was arrested during her appearance at the Majitha police station after her name appeared in a case registered at the Jhabal police station during the by-election. She was produced before the area magistrate’s court on Saturday evening amid tight security.
