The Chandigarh Flying Squad of the Vigilance Bureau arrested Paramjit Singh, a government employee of the Punjab Mandi Board and Mandi Supervisor, while accepting a bribe of ₹7,000 at the Bhagatanwala Grain Market. Another employee was also arrested with him.
According to reports, Paramjit was demanding a bribe from a commission agent at the Bhagatanwala Grain Market for the paddy season. Instead of paying him, the commission agent filed a complaint directly with the Vigilance Bureau in Chandigarh. As soon as Paramjit arrived to collect the bribe, the Flying Squad, already waiting in line, immediately apprehended him.
Another employee was also accompanying Paramjit. Mandi employees claim he was not involved in the bribery, but because of Paramjit’s presence, he too had to pay the price, and the Flying Squad filed an FIR against him. After this matter came to light, the truth about other employees of the Mandi Board has also been exposed, who demand bribe from the commission agents in exchange for providing government services.
