Panic gripped the National Highway in Phagwara when masked attackers opened fire on a young man’s car. According to reports, four masked criminals traveling in a white car carried out the attack.
During the assault, a bullet struck the side door of the youth’s car, while the vehicle’s windows were also shattered. Fortunately, the young man escaped unhurt in the incident. It is alleged that the victim had, some time ago, facilitated the arrest of four personnel from the CIA Staff, Phagwara, by the Vigilance Bureau in connection with a bribery case. The attack is believed to have been carried out as an act of retaliation stemming from this grievance.
The victim further revealed that he had previously received threats over the phone, warning him to testify in the case in the attackers’ favor or face dire consequences. During the shooting, the assailants also issued a chilling threat: “This is just the trailer; the movie is yet to come.” The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation, and raids are currently being conducted to apprehend the accused.
