Members of the Toll Plaza Workers’ Union staged a vigorous protest today at the Ladowal Toll Plaza, situated on the National Highway, holding a sit-in demonstration against the Central Government.
**Protest Against Decision to Eliminate Jobs**
During the protest, the union opened one lane of the toll plaza to traffic free of charge for three hours in an effort to make their voices heard by the Central Government. Leading the demonstration, Union President Darshan Singh Ladi and Toll Plaza Manager Deependra Singh stated that the Central Government is planning to eliminate the jobs of toll plaza employees—a move they vowed would not be allowed to succeed at any cost. They highlighted that thousands of employees at the toll plaza rely on these jobs to support their families.
**Warning of Intensified Agitation**
They warned that if their jobs were eliminated, it would have a direct and devastating impact on thousands of families. Union leaders issued a stern warning that if the government does not withdraw this policy, their struggle will be further intensified. They declared that, if necessary, they would stage protests by blocking highways at toll plazas across the country and would take their agitation all the way to Delhi.
