Temperatures are on the rise in Punjab, bringing with them scorching heat. Moreover, the heat is expected to intensify further in the coming days. In several districts of Punjab, temperatures have already crossed the 35-degree mark, and even hotter conditions are anticipated in the days ahead. Additionally, a maximum temperature of 41 degrees Celsius has been recorded in Bathinda.
The Meteorological Department has issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ regarding the heatwave for a period of four days—specifically, until April 24. The impact of the heatwave is expected to be most severe between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM. During this time, people need to exercise extreme caution. Experts emphasize that taking precautions during the afternoon hours is absolutely essential; one should avoid venturing outdoors during this period. If stepping out is unavoidable, ensure your body is covered and drink plenty of water. Those working outdoors should keep their heads covered and refrain from consuming alcohol, tea, coffee, or carbonated beverages.
