On the city’s Ojla Road, several unidentified assailants traveling in a car abducted a young man who was sitting outside a gas agency. Subsequently, the accused subjected the victim to a brutal beating near Dayalpur village—located on the Jalandhar-Amritsar National Highway—leaving him critically injured. According to reports, the victim—identified as Deepak, son of Jaspal Singh and a resident of Varian Dona village (under the jurisdiction of Sadar Police Station, Kapurthala)—worked as a contractor’s assistant at a local gas agency. On Thursday, while he was sitting outside the agency on Ojla Road, several unidentified individuals arrived in a car, forced him inside at gunpoint, and began brutally assaulting him. It is alleged that one of the assailants was brandishing a weapon during the incident, which prevented bystanders from intervening to save the youth out of fear. Later, the accused fled the scene after dumping the critically injured youth on the roadside near Dayalpur village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Subhanpur Police Station. When the injured youth was rushed to a private hospital in Kartarpur for treatment, he succumbed to his injuries during the course of his medical care.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Inspector Amandeep Nahar—the SHO of City Police Station, Kapurthala—arrived at the scene with a police team. They took custody of the deceased’s body and transported it to the Civil Hospital, Kapurthala, for a post-mortem examination. Reports suggest that the police have identified the prime accused involved in this murder based on CCTV footage, and preparations are currently underway to register a case of murder against them. According to sources, the victim and the perpetrators of this crime had shared a long-standing enmity. It is reported that a physical altercation had previously occurred between the two parties in Dayalpur village approximately six to seven months ago, during which one of the youths sustained serious injuries. In connection with this matter, on Thursday, the aforementioned accused chose that very location to carry out the murder; acting out of vengeance, they brutally beat the deceased and dumped the body right there in Dayalpur. It is reported that SHO-City Inspector Amandeep Nahar, along with his police team, conducted raids at various locations across the districts of Kapurthala and Jalandhar, rounding up several individuals suspected of having links to the accused for questioning.
