A case involving a violent clash and gunfire—stemming from a dispute over a mobile phone and an illicit relationship—has come to light in Ghubaya village, Jalalabad. In this incident, a young man and his mother sustained critical injuries and have been admitted to the Government Hospital in Jalalabad for treatment. According to reports, a young man named Vijay (alias Ajay), a resident of Ghubaya village, was involved in an illicit relationship with a married woman from Guru Har Sahai in the Ferozepur district. Ajay had gifted a new mobile phone to the woman; however, following an altercation between the two over some issue, he took the phone back.
When the woman’s husband, Jatinder Singh, learned of this, he went to Ajay’s house to confront him regarding his wife’s affair and demanded the return of the mobile phone. The situation quickly escalated, and Jatinder Singh—along with his accomplices—stormed into the house and brutally assaulted both Ajay and his mother, Sheela Bai. Witnessing the commotion, villagers gathered at the scene and, in a fit of rage, vandalized the attacker’s car. Following the initial incident, the accused fled the spot. However, he subsequently returned to the scene, opened fire, and then sped away in his car. DSP Gursewak Singh Brar stated that the police are investigating the matter, and further action will be taken based on the statements provided by the injured victims.
