The Shiromani Akali Dal has been raising a specific issue for the past four years. It is in this context that today’s press conference is being held. The crux of the matter is that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has been in power for the last four years. As part of his election guarantees, Kejriwal had asserted that the Punjab government would generate ₹20,000 crore through mining revenue; consequently, he claimed, there would be no need to incur further debt, and the state would be rendered debt-free. However, what is actually transpiring now is that the Aam Aadmi Party members are simply lining their own pockets.
**The Case of Village Gorsian Khan Mohammad in the Dakha Constituency**
According to reports, the issue being highlighted today pertains to the Dakha region. An incident occurred 8–9 days ago in the village of Gorsian Khan Mohammad, involving police intervention and physical violence. A fierce clash ensued at the site, and atrocities were inflicted upon several innocent individuals. The locals had hoped that the police would deliver justice; however, regarding this entire mining controversy, not even a single statement has been issued by Manpreet Singh Ayali. In fact, he personally conducted an investigation into these illicit activities and discovered that the contractor operating the site admitted to handing over the proceeds generated from mining—after extraction from the quarry—to the Personal Assistant (PA) of the constituency in-charge.
**Havoc Unleashed Upon the Village Sarpanch and His Family**
A dispute erupted between Dr. K.N.S. Kang—the in-charge of the Dakha constituency—and Dr. Tejpal Singh Gill—the Chairman of Punsup—over the distribution of the revenue generated from this very mining operation. This altercation stemmed from the looting of public funds—money that rightfully belongs to the people. The police, meanwhile, are failing to discharge their duties effectively. This is a government-designated quarry that serves as the primary source of livelihood for 200–250 families. The facility was, in fact, personally inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Punjab himself. With the closure of this quarry, these families have been left unable to put food on their tables. During the clash that took place, the village Sarpanch, his brother, and his minor son were subjected to physical assault. Moreover, their tractors and motorcycles were vandalized. The former Sarpanch of the village is also implicated in this incident.
**Ultimatum Issued to the Government and Police Administration**
Issuing a warning, they stated that while this issue was initially an internal matter, it has now evolved into an issue concerning their entire constituency. The Shiromani Akali Dal has conveyed to the police administration and the Aam Aadmi Party that the police force must be held accountable. They warned that if the police still fail to register a case regarding this matter—specifically against PANSP Chairman Dr. Tejpal Singh Gill and the District President—then protests will be staged starting May 5th. During this address, they issued a stern warning, asserting that they know how to get cases registered just as well as they know how to fight a battle.
