Former MP and former Punjab BJP President Shwet Malik launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) during a press conference in Jalandhar. The event was presided over by District BJP President Sushil Sharma. Several leaders were present on the occasion, including Rakesh Rathore, K.D. Bhandari, Raman Pabbi, Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary, Ashok Sareen Hikki, Rajesh Kapoor, Amarjit Singh Goldy, and Media In-charge Amit Bhatia.
**AAP’s Existence at Risk**
Malik alleged that the party’s very existence is at risk due to rising corruption within AAP and Arvind Kejriwal’s “dictatorial style of functioning.” He stated that Kejriwal must provide an explanation for labeling leaders who leave the party to join the BJP as “traitors.” Malik raised the question of whether leaders who joined AAP from other parties also fall into this same category. Meanwhile, Shwet Malik remarked, “When the boat sinks, everyone goes down with it—neither Kejriwal will be spared, nor his companions.”
**Leaders Quit Party Due to Corruption**
He claimed that there is widespread discontent within the party, which is being viewed as a “major split.” Malik stated that many leaders have quit the party due to corruption and a lack of internal democracy. Citing a statement by Anna Hazare, he noted that the party—which was born out of an anti-corruption movement—has strayed from its core principles. Malik further alleged that democratic values are being undermined within AAP and that the party has become confined to an “High Command culture.” He added that many leaders are feeling uncomfortable and are exploring other options. In conclusion, he stated that the BJP welcomes all leaders who wish to work towards transparency, good governance, and the national interest.
