Early this morning, a fire at Rahul Auto Repair—located in the village of Talwandi Salla—resulted in heavy financial losses for the mechanic. An electrical short circuit is suspected to be the cause of the blaze. Panic ensued in the residential area where the shop is situated when, around 8:00 AM, smoke and flames were suddenly seen billowing from the premises. Villagers immediately began efforts to extinguish the fire and alerted the fire brigade.
Upon arriving at the scene, the fire brigade team managed to bring the blaze under control after a strenuous effort; however, by that time, the fire had already wreaked total havoc, and the shop was completely reduced to ashes. The shop’s proprietor—mechanic Ram Krishna, son of Puran Chand and a resident of Tanda—stated that the fixtures, spare parts, and other inventory kept inside the shop were completely destroyed, resulting in a loss of approximately ₹3 lakh. Additionally, the fire damaged the signage and electricity meters of two neighboring shops located nearby.
